Probably This Picks: Queer-Owned Businesses to Support During Pride

Pride month is winding down and now’s my time to shout it to anyone who will listen: support queer makers this month and all year round! So often queer businesses get their press and sales during June when everyone wants to be seen supporting the LGBTQ+ community, only to have that praise diminish once the month is over.

There are so many incredible, high-quality, and even mission-driven LGBTQ+ small businesses to shop from for all of your home needs, from linens to lighting to decor and furniture—and we’ve rounded up our favorites here!

Give the list below a look, if possible give the businesses and makers a follow online so you stay in the loop, and let us know if we missed your favorite queer-owned small business so we can include them in the future!

As we move forward into the year, join me in spending your dollars at LGTBQ+ owned businesses, woman-owned businesses, and Black-owned businesses. Money talks and every time you spend a dollar you are using your voice!

xoxo

  1. Boy Smells

A long-time Probably This favorite, Boy Smells was founded in Los Angeles by two fashion veterans and partners in 2015. All of their candles are divine, but Slow Burn is one we return to again and again. We’re looking forward to trying their latest scent Citrush, which is, well, a poppers reference! Don’t do poppers (think of your lungs and brain chemistry!!), do buy the candle.

  2. Sienna Studios

Started in 2020 during the pandemic, Sienna Studios is a Richmond, Virginia, based small business that makes beautiful, handmade home accessories that moonlight as art objects. We love this trinket dish for stashing coins and jewelry when not in use. You may even have seen our very own collaboration with them which you can still purchase: the clam shell catchall.

  3. The Plant Gays

Based in Columbus, Ohio, The Plant Gays is an interior design service as well as retailers of house plants and gorgeous handcrafted planters that are very gay. We love this one, of course, but some of their planters are a little more X-rated so maybe don’t open the link at work.

  4. Couplet Coffee

Couplet is a queer-woman owned coffee retailer that makes specialty coffee more approachable. In addition to slinging their very own fresh-roasted blends, their merch is adorable. We present you with this cow-print moka pot for your consideration.

  5. Minna

Minna is a queer-led business founded in 2016 in Hudson, New York. Their multi-purpose homewares are inspired by Feminist art, the Bauhaus, traditional craft and vintage textiles. We’re in love with this hand woven duvet cover set made in Mexico.

  6. Diaspora Co.

Diaspora Co. is a queer spice business that also sells really beautiful tools for the kitchen. Their high quality blends are sourced directly from growers in India and Sri Lanka. While we love their spices, we love their kitchen tools even more, particularly this salt tiger.

  7. NTRL by Sabs

Pronounced "Natural by Sabs,” this eco-conscious brand is 100% Black/Latinx/Queer female-owned. Their line of products includes skincare, haircare and body care made with botanically-based ingredients!

  8. Darling Spring

LGBT and women-owned, Darling Spring carries home goods exclusively made by female creators. Inspired by their Mediterranean heritage and the inequity women designers face. Their enamelware and rugs are a real standout, including this one we’re coveting.

  9. Fredericks and Mae

Design studio Fredericks & Mae has crafted delightful, giftable homewares since 2007. Their brick and mortar is in New York, but they ship their wares anywhere. We hope you love this brass candle holder as much as we do.

  10. TRNK

LGBT+ and minority-owned TRNK is a design studio and curatorial platform. Along with their stunning in-house line of furnishings, they feature a curated selection of furniture, objects and artworks from across the globe. This intricately woven caned chair is one of many stunning pieces on their site.
