Rosemary Greyhounds
Did you guys like Sundays when you were a kid? I thought they sucked. On Friday you watched movies at school and then went to a rock climbing sleepover birthday party. On Saturday you got donuts for breakfast, a neighborhood block party in the afternoon, and an all-night Ocarina of Time playing marathon. Then Sunday comes around and all the fun-that-never-stops suddenly does stop and you have to go to church, read a whole book and write a report on it, and finagle the hamsters out of the cage so you can change their hay and scrub their poop.
I've since been enlightened. Sunday for adults is hands down the best day of the week. You wake up late, and thanks to the honorable institution of brunch, it's acceptable to drink mimosas as early as 11 or eat waffles as late as 3. There are amazing drink deals like $5 Mai Tais at Bar Tonique or drinks served in a pineapple from Cane & Table. Being sandwiched between Saturday's partying and Monday's return to the grind makes Sundays a great day to clear your mind hanging out by the pool, which you know we love. The weather is always flawless (Fact: it's actually never rained on a Sunday), and Fox and I go on our longest walks of the week, which gives me bonus dog dad points. If you care about football, well, there's plenty of that, and if you don't, all you have to do is yell, "Aw, come on!" at the TV while stuffing your face with fried chicken.
We're super lucky to have a beautiful rooftop hangout area at our building, and so one of our favorite Sunday activities is making a nice little cocktail and bringing it up to the roof with us in our cute af "Mr." glasses Beau surprised me with. I just learned they're actually meant to be toothbrush mugs, but they're still super cute, OK? For today we kept it simple and refreshing: Old Tom Greyhounds with a Rosemary Garnish. Recipe below, honeys!
Rosemary Greyhounds
Makes 2
3 oz. gin -- I chose Hayman's Old Tom for a soft, bright, floral flavor profile
3 oz. fresh squeezed grapefruit juice
Soda water
Rosemary sprigs, for garnish
Combine gin and grapefruit juice in a shaking tin. Add ice, shake, and strain over fresh ice.
Top with soda and garnish with a sprig of rosemary.
